Collaboration with legendary American UX designer, Susan Wolfe. Over years teaching the trade, she has collected maxims from students and proteges. These are some of my favourites.
I can remember the point in my career where I made the switch from falling in love with something I had designed (or an idea I had for a design) to instead getting committed to solving the problem as elegantly as possible.
If you are too in love with your ideas, your projects won't ever reach their full potential.
I'll also add that colleagues and stakeholders are people, too. Sometimes they require just as much sensitivity and empathy as our users/consumers.
Sometimes it's easy to get bogged down in methodologies, frameworks and tools. Ultimately, it's up to you as the professional to choose what you need for this specific project and context (and use your brain whilst doing so!).
Something most designers get comfortable with during university (if not then, hopefully early on in their career). You need to be comfortable with things being messy during the development process.
